Celebrating 422 Years of Singaraja

Singaraja celebrates its 422 years Anniversary on March, 30 2026. Known as the education center of North Bali, Singaraja is also rich in natural beauty and cultural charm. This year celebration carries the theme "Bhinneka Shanti Jagadhita", reflecting the community's values of embracing Diversity (Bhineka), maintaining peace and harmony (Shanti), and achieving shared prosperity also happiness (Jagadhita).

As the capital of Buleleng regency, Singaraja has an interesting and meaningful history. The city grew during the time of Ki Barak Panji Sakti, a key figure in the Buleleng Kingdom. (Pemerintahsetda, 2025). During the dutch colonial period, Singaraja became the administrative center for Bali and nearby regions. Today, it remains an important hub for education and culture.

To celebrate the special moment, many events are held leading up to the main celebration with strong community participation. These include a fun walk joined by all the communities from students until government, a waste management competition to raise environmental awareness, a singing competition joined by students from senior high school, and the Singaraja run 2026 offers 7 kilometers race starting from the Old Buleleng Harbour (DetikBali, 2026).

Additionally, culture plays a big role in celebration. There is a traditional Ngelawar cooking competition and a cultural parade tells the story of Ki Barak Panji Sakti. The main celebration will be from 28, 29 and 30 March 2026 (3 days), the community will enjoy a wide range of entertainment and cultural performances at Taman Bung Karno located in Sukasada. The program includes traditional and modern performances by local artists, the legendary Gong Mebarung, and a large-scale dance performance involving of the Singaraja Anniversary comittee, allowing people to enjoy the celebration both on site or online.
