Sunday Market at Spice Beach Club Lovina

What better way to spend your Sunday than relaxing by the beach — especially if you’re in Bali! One of the most charming weekend activities in North Bali was visiting the Sunday Market at Spice Beach Club Lovina. What made this market extra special? It's set right by the iconic Lovina Beach, and every product sold is a traditional, locally-made item crafted by small businesses (UMKM) from Buleleng.

Ocean Breeze

Strolling through the market, you'll enjoy the ocean breeze, catch glimpses of local paintings, savor the sunrise, and truly feel the vibe of Balinese culture. It’s not just a market — it’s a whole experience. You’ll find everything from local foods and drinks to accessories, art, and even virgin coconut oil. One standout stall features handcrafted household goods made from intricately carved aluminum — a perfect blend of function and art. You can also taste the freshness of Bulde Wine, made from high-quality grapes and known for its health benefits (yes, it’s been clinically tested!).

Live Cooking Show

Nearby, the aroma of lak-lak Bali (Balinese pancakes) wafts through the air as they're freshly cooked over traditional clay stoves — it’s like watching a live cooking show, and you get to taste it while still hot. Right next to it, there are stalls offering crispy pork rinds and Balinese sausages, along with sweet Balinese treats like pie Bali and dodol Bali — chewy desserts wrapped in dried corn husks. And the best part is everything is sold at local-friendly prices.

Barong Dance

Barong Dance

The Sunday Market on July 6, 2025, opened with a vibrant celebration hosted by Spice Beach Club Lovina. Visitors were treated to a captivating Barong dance performance, depicting the eternal battle between good (Barong) and evil (Rangda). Barong, a lion-like creature, represents positive energy, while Rangda, the fearsome witch queen, symbolizes darkness. It’s a powerful and sacred representation of life’s balance.

Welcome by Regent of Buleleng, Dr. I Nyoman Sutjirda

The event was also graced by the presence of the Regent of Buleleng, Dr. I Nyoman Sutjirda, who delivered a warm welcome speech and officially opened the market. A proud smile lit up his face as he walked around, admiring the variety of traditional Buleleng products on display. The celebration continued with a symbolic sea turtle release ceremony, followed by a lively performance from a local live band — closing the event on a joyful and energetic note.

The flavors, colors, and soul of Bali all came alive at the Lovina Sunday Market — a heartwarming and enriching way to spend your Sunday and discover the true charm of the Island of Paradise.
