The Temple of Career Blessings

Batu Kursi Temple on the Hill

Bali is full of mystical tales that sometimes defy logic—but that’s exactly what makes the island so uniquely magical. One such story comes from a beautiful hilltop temple in Pemuteran Village, Buleleng, known as Pura Batu Kursi. At first glance, many visitors may have come across this temple while hiking, enjoying a day trip, or joining a prayer ceremony—without realizing the legend behind it.

This temple is believed to be a sacred place to pray for career advancement or leadership roles. The origin of this belief dates back to 1984, when a respected elder from Puri Pemecutan received a spiritual message (wangsit) about a sacred site called Batu Mekorsi or "sitting stone," located southwest of Pura Pemuteran. Guided by this vision, the elder and several religious figures visited the area—and found exactly what the message had described. Because the stone resembled a chair, it became symbolically associated with “a seat of power” or a place where one could pray for career advancement or leadership roles.

Batu Kursi Perched at around 800 meters above sea level, reaching Pura Batu Kursi requires a bit of a climb. But the effort is well worth it. As you hike up the hill, a sense of peace begins to set in. And once at the top, you’re rewarded with sweeping views of Pemuteran Village and the vast, calming blue ocean—offering not just physical beauty, but a moment of inner stillness and clarity.

Road to Batu Kursi

At its core, a temple in Bali isn’t just a structure. It’s a place for prayer, connection, and hope. Like other Hindu temples, Pura Batu Kursi is a spiritual bridge between human beings, the divine, and nature—a sacred space where people can place their wishes, communicate with the universe, and refresh their soul.
