Ngeruak Ceremony at Selat Village

A New Villa in Selat Begins

A New Villa in Selat Begins with a Sacred Balinese Blessing

A new villa project is officially underway in the peaceful village of Selat, Buleleng (North Bali). Nestled between scenic rice fields and boasting a panoramic view of the Lovina coast. Just like many things in Bali, this project begins not only with tools and plans — but with tradition, blessing, and soul.

Ngeruak CeremonyThe start of construction was marked by a Groundbreaking Ceremony, held with Balinese tradition, symbolizing respect for the land and asking for divine guidance throughout the building process. In the Balinese tradition, the ceremony is held with a “Ngeruak”. The ritual began with prayers led by a pemangku (Balinese priest), followed by “mecaru”, a symbolic walk around the site while carrying offerings and sprinkling tirta (holy water) on the ground to purify and protect it. The ceremony ended with the symbolic laying of the villa’s foundation — a beautiful fusion of culture and intention.

The entire Palm Living team came together to witness and participate in this ceremony. We pray with hands in prayer and hearts full of hope. It was a beautiful reminder that every great project begins with gratitude, community, and belief in something greater. The views were nothing short of breathtaking — a combination of fresh green rice terraces, the sparkling coastline in the distance, and soft clouds drifting above. The cool breeze, the warmth of the morning sun, and the feeling of the tirta (Holy Water) dripping over our hands made everything feel connected — earth, sky, spirit, and people.

We are excited to begin this journey and can’t wait to share more updates as the villa rises from this sacred ground. With every stone placed, we carry the spirit of Bali — its beauty, its wisdom, and its deep-rooted traditions.

That is how we go about it at https://northbalivillas.com/
